The BIOcean5D initial data management plan

Project deliverable: our initial data management plan, describing the types of data that will be available from BIOcean5D, as well as the data flow between the local hub and international archives

Through our third work package, we’re building the digital foundations we need to develop a fit-for-purpose data hub – able to store harmonised streams of diverse data collected through BIOcean5D, historical projects and other efforts worldwide.

We’re pleased to share our first deliverable from this work package: our initial data management plan.

This document describes the management approaches for integrating and harmonising biodiversity data produced during the project and reused from historical datasets in European and international data archives.

It also presents the project’s strategies to ensure FAIR data practices (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). This includes metadata standardisation processes, quality controls and guidelines for long-term archiving of data in trusted repositories. The document also showcases the initial concepts for the BIOcean5D data hub and its associated data flow.

This is the first version of our data management plan, which we will update regularly to increase the impact of our data.
